Luise Schröder studied German Literature, Art History and Arabic Studies in Berlin as well as Photography and Media Arts at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts. In her photographic works, videos, publications and art mediation projects Luise Schröder confronts the ways in which the past is instrumentalised for present day politics as well as the extrapolation of historical myths and their meaning for identities and communities. Alongside numerous other distinctions, her work was awarded with the C/O Talents award, gute aussichten – new german photography and the Max-Pechstein-Prize of the City of Zwickau. The artist lives in Leipzig, Potsdam and Paris.
