Katrin Kamrau (1981) studied Photography and Media at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld and at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp. In 2012 to 2013 she completed the post-academic programme at HISK, Gent and in 2016 she was a participant at the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maasticht. Katrin Kamrau explores the processes of image making and perception in relation to the medium of photography. In particular, she looks into the social interactions, power structures, role models and networks of relations that form around the printed image. Her work has been granted with numerous awards and prizes like GWK Young Artist Award in 2014 or gute aussichten – young german photography in 2010 / 2011.
