Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber have been working on »Cartographie Dynamique« since 2017. »Cartographie dynamique« is a virtual network connecting cities in Japan, Germany, France, China or India with the distinctive photographic works created in each location, often focussing on the transformation of the city.
The current chapter, La Ville Invisible, deals with the question of whether major events such as the Olympic Games or EXPO can be accelerators of urban change. To what extent they contribute to changing the understanding of private and public space. Do ideas of coming together, exchange and sporting competition still play a central role or are the arenas and pavilions just more ruins of the future? 
The book contains images from Osaka, Tokyo, Paris, Seoul and Sarajevo taken since 2014.

]]> Ankommen is a study of architectural infrastructure for state-provided accommodation for refugees in Germany. During the so called European migrant crisis from 2015 on Germany got known for its ‘welcome culture’ towards refugees. Since 2015 millions of refugees have arrived to the country and the state has had to react quickly trying to provide sufficient housing for the immigrants. In the fast paced urban planning process material and immaterial borders are created, making it challenging for the refugees to settle. Through photographic documentation, aerial views and official documents of regulations regarding refugee housing complexes the book raises a questions about the architecture’s impairing effects for refugees integration to German society. The places in his photographs wait silently between demolition and new construction, harvest and sowing, abandonment and revival. In this way, Schieder also understands his pictures as a contemplation of the contradictory feelings that something must change and everything should remain as it is.

 

The Collectors Edition of periphic by Christoph Schieder includes his self-published photo book together with two photographs by the author (not published in the book), printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo paper in the format 250 x 180 mm.
